Finance plays a vital and integral role in business decision-making. They are many different aspects of finance. The specialist finance MBA doesn't stop you taking the core courses of the MBA. You can't do an MBA without the core curriculum being delivered to you. What then happens is that the electives that you are offered are related to finance. Asset Management for Business - The practice and the theory of working capital management, capital budgeting, valuation for acquisition purposes and financial analysis.
Capital Structure of Business - The practice and the theory behind the various methods of financing a business. Devising a capital structure strategy, investment banking and cost-of-capital theory.
Portfolio Theory and Capital Markets - An introduction to portfolio theory and the models for capital markets to aid financial decision making.
Options and Futures Markets - This course provides the student with a knowledge of the problems, concepts and the applications of speculative securities. This includes interest rate, stock index and currency futures; Stock, currency, stock index and futures options; Currency and interest swaps.
Investment Management - An understanding of risk assessment and investment analysis. A study of the techniques useful in valuing individual securities, securities market operations and securities price behaviour.
International Financial Markets - international monetary systems, international banking, foreign exchange theory and international money markets.
International Corporate Finance - international financing, international investment, country and foreign exchange and international money management.
Financing the Growth of New Companies - the preparation of accounting statements to identify what funding needs a new business has, several valuation techniques for companies, including real options and free case flow, and the structure of venture capital markets and private equity plus the IPO process.
Financial Markets and the Firm - the financial system in which business firms can raise capital and manage their assets. How the recent technological changes in commercial and investment banking impacted the nonfinancial corporation. How the financial markets for debt, equity and derivatives present businesses with global opportunity.
