How do I find an Accredited Online MBA Program

Only a decade ago, the term "internet" was a stranger to most people, so if you had told them that you could take an online MBA ten years ago then they would have thought you were crazy. Only ten years ago, if you were lucky and happened to live near to the right city, then you could choose from a few local MBA programs.

But things have really changed now, and you are today able to select from hundreds of accredited MBA programs from around the globe. This means that you are able to hold down a full-time job whilst attending your classes in your pajamas, you can still network until you drop and you can then be home for dinner.

So, let's say that you think that you want to take an online MBA program, what do you do? Firstly, you must make sure that is actually right for you. You need to have a great deal of self-discipline and motivation. These are the two key requisites of success in online learning. Should you know that you have these, you can get off to a good start.

The business schools that offer online MBAs are looking for motivated learners that want to continue in education so that they can prepare for a change in career or get ahead in their current field. People who succeed on online MBAs like new challenges and opportunities, and are driven enough to be able to succeed regardless of commitments and obligations that they have outside the course.

Finding an accredited online MBA program is basically accomplished by finding a business school that is accredited. The accreditation systems take in all of the courses at a business school when they convey the accreditation, so if the university or business school with which you wish to take the online MBA course is accredited then the online MBA course must be accredited too.

The three main accreditation bodies are the Association of MBAs (AMBA), which is based in London , EQUIS - the European accreditation body, and AACSB, which is based in the USA . They will have a list of accredited business schools and you can contact them to find out if they have an online MBA option. Alternatively, you can find the online MBA that you want and they will be able to tell you if they are accredited.

Ideally, you should check the business school rankings as well to find out what is the best business school you can get into. The more prestigious your online MBA, the more chances that you can put it to good use afterwards. Make sure, at least, that your online MBA is accredited, otherwise it is literally not worth the paper it's written on.
